Does Pinging A Blog Really Work?

I recently began doing a little experiment with pinging my blog, many say that it's supposed to get your blog listed and ranked higher in the search engines.

What the heck is a Ping? What can Pinging do for me? Does it actually work?

Pinging is when you send a "ping" to the world or even perhaps even galaxies far far away but in this case we'll call them "blog directories", which keep lists of all blogs and tells the world that you have added new content. Web spiders (creepy) will then crawl all over your new blog content and boost it up in ranking.

I began search the internet to see what others were saying about this whole Ping method, some had positive results while others offered some negativity. I proceeded on with my pinging experiment and wrote two blogs, both different in purpose and followed up one with a ping and the other idle and saw that with the results I had from a Ping surprised me while the idle blog sat aloof.

I conducted a few more Pinging tests and came up with the same positive results.

There are many blog ping services out there but the one that gave me the best of all results were Pingler.
